“FDP – Deep learning and Hardware Integration with MATLAB” May 2023

Department of Electronics and Computer Science successfully conducted Online Faculty Development Program (FDP) on ‘’Deep learning and Hardware Integration with MATLAB’’ from 8 th to 10 th May 2023(10:30am to 5:00 pm). Prof.Jayashri Gajare and Prof.Bhumika Tarate has Co-ordinated this event under the Guidance of Convenor and Head of the department Dr. Subha Subramaniam. For this event ,we invited Mr.Kunal Khandelwal,Application Engineer- Mathworks at Design Tech System Pvt Ltd. We got good responses from other colleges as 45 participants from different colleges and branches enrolled and completed this program, with very helpful Hands-on sessions conducted by our speaker. During this Faculty development program following topics were included:: Hardware Integration with MATLAB, Machine Learning using MATLAB, Machine Learning onramp, Deep Learning Using MATLAB and Deep Learning onramp topics are discussed and Hands-on sessions were conducted for the same topics.

“Counselling Session for SE-TE” April 2023

Our Counsellor/Psychologist Ms. Hitakshi Vyas Joshi conducted a workshop on How to dealing with peer pressure and addiction for our SE students on 3rd April 2023.To train our SE students on how to handle peer pressure while making their career choices. To identify their core values and define their goals ,this session was very helpful for them. Also, the counsellor explained how to deal with anxiety during interview or placement time, which motivated them to perform better in their personal interview.
She also conducted a workshop on Goal setting for our TE students on 23rd March 2023.To train our TE students on how to achieve their desired outcome with active steps. Also, the counsellor explained how to deal with anxiety during interview or placement time, which motivated them to perform better in their personal interview.

“QUANTA-ECS DAY” January 2023

Quanta-ECS day was organized by the department of Electronics and Computer Science, Student Council of Electronics and Computer Science department in association with SAKEC IIC 5.0 started with the inauguration and unveiling of the logo “ QUANTA”. It was followed by Inaugural address by principal Dr.Bhavesh Patel. The welcome address was delivered by H.O.D,ECS, Dr.Subha Subramaniam.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr.Nilesh Ranpura, Senior ASIC Engineer e-infochips pvt. Ltd. on growing opportunities & challenges in the engineering domain.
The second expert talk was delivered by Ms.Harsha Bhole,Principal SQA engineer BMC Software India pvt. Ltd. on software testing : opportunities and challenges. The next expert talk was delivered by Mr.Ramesh Kharat,Consultant Priar web technologies on cloud computing. Alumni talk was given by Ms.Arushi Shetty ,Senior System Engineer,Infosys.
This was followed by a very effective and attractive panel discussion conducted by industry experts Mr.Nilesh Ranpura, e-infochips pvt. ltd, Mr.Ramesh Kharat, Priar web Technologies,Alumni Ms. Arushi Shetty,faculty representative Prof.Nirmol Munvar, student representatives Geetanjali Sahoo,Amar Chouhan & Nikita Gedam.

The Student Council was announced by student council faculty coordinator Prof.Nirmol Munvar.
The day concluded with a beautiful evening with performances of SAKEC Studio and Silver Steppers,SAKEC.

“SDP on Full Stack VLSI Design” January 2023

Department of Electronics and Computer Science in collaboration with SAKEC IIC 5.0 had organized a Student Development Program on ” Full Stack VLSI Design “ on 30th January 2023.The student development program started with the inaugural address by Dr. Subha Subramanian,Head of Electronics and Computer Science department.
The fist expert talk was delivered by Mr. Bhavin Kakani , ASIC Engineer, e-Infochips India Pvt Ltd on “Overview of Front-end technologies, case study and Challenges”. This interactive talk was followed by QnA sessions where the speaker attended to all the queries raised by faculty members and students.
Mr. Dipesh Panchal ,Physical Design Engineer eInfochips India pvt LTD. had delivered the second expert talk on “Overview of Backend technologies, case study, challenges”. A complete overview on the future of technology, Opportunities and challenges in the domain of VLSI Design is covered in this SDP.

” Orientation of Skill based lab: Linux server Administration ECL 604.” January 2023

Orientation Program on Skill based lab: Linux Server Administration Lab(ECL604), Sem VI, Electronics and Computer Science revised 2019 C syllabus scheme was held on 7th January 2023 organized by Electronics and Computer Science department. The orientation was conducted by Prof.Vaibhav Godbole, Assistant Professor,Fr.CRCCE. Discussions were made regarding the syllabus, assessment methods and scope of enhanced learning The session was
interactive and information regarding the experiments set up and Hands on was discussed in detail.Total 11 faculty members across engineering colleges of Mumbai university attended this orientation.

“One Week Internship in Python Programming” December 2022

The Department organized one-week offline Internship on Python from 20 December to 26 December 2022. As an extension of this internship a project exhibition and Competition conducted on 28 December 2022. This Internship was coordinated by Prof. Pooja Polshetwar and Prof. Nirmol Munvar, from Electronics and Computer Science department, at Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College. The internship was conducted entirely offline and everything was Hands on learning. In this, internship students learned python from scratch to project development, giving good exposure on Real World Problems. Prof. Vidya Gogate and Prof. Atul Kachre Evaluated Students’ projects and declared Three winners. This internship was organized under the guidance of HOD. Dr. Subha Subramaniam.

“Mini Project/Major project Guidance for Hardware And Software Platform” August 2022

The Department organised a session “Mini Project Guidance for Hardware And Software Platform”, on 20 th August 2022 at 10.30 am ,for students of second year and third year. Total 80 students attended the session. Venue for this session was 7th floor Drawing Hall.
This session was organised for guiding the students for proper selection of project problem statement, which will give more reliable solutions to real life problems or societal problems. The main aim was to encourage students to do more hardware/software projects which will help them to develop practical skill set.
Key note address was given by Principal, Dr. Bhavesh Patel in which importance of project was highlighted.
The session was conducted by experts from industry Mr. Ronak Parikh and Mr. Hemant Shah from Techinfinity. They guided students about importance of practical as well as project knowledge. They interacted with the students by sharing their experience of handling industry projects as well as in start-ups. Various aspects related to proper selection of components, microcontroller for projects were discussed. Importance of selecting real life projects was demonstrated by giving example of auto collection of fine by traffic police.

Prof. Nirmol Munvar Explained Concept of Arrays and its usage in Data Structures and Stack Implementation using Arrays. Prof. Pooja Polshetwar introduced the fundamental concept of pointers & its Application in Data Structures. “Five week OFFLINE Internship on “IoT Hardware, Software, and Applications”” June 2022

Department of Electronics and Computer Science, organized a five week OFFLINE Internship on “IoT Hardware, Software, and Applications” from 06th June 2022 to 11th July 2022 .This five-week Internship was conducted and coordinated by Prof. Santosh Kamble and Prof. Anita Nalawade, from Electronics and Computer Science department, Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College. The internship was conducted completely OFFLINE .In this, internship students learned about different IoT boards, thing speak cloud, firebase and Rpi. The competition was organized for encouraging innovative ideas of students, preparing students for industrial environment, giving good exposure on emerging IoT technology. The judge from IT department Prof.Smita Bansode assessed the projects and declared two winners Ms.Madhavi More and Mr. Jash Shah. This internship was organized under guidance of Hod. Dr. Subha Subramanian.

“Project Competition” May 2022


Department of Electronics and Computer Science had organised project competition on 6th may 2022 for department level students of Second year, third year and final year.
From SE 124 students, TE 27 student and from BE 49 students participated in competition. Venue for this competition was Lab 202, third floor auditorium and fourth floor auditorium.
This competition was organised for encouraging innovative ideas of students, preparing students for industrial environment, giving good exposure on emerging engineering fields. Expert judges from industry Mr. Anjum Mujawar, Mr. Omkar Pai and from Academics Prof. Swapnali Makade assessed these projects. “Two-days workshop on IoT app development for Robots.” January 2022

SAKEC's Robo Club, in collaboration with ECS Department, offered a two-days workshop on “IoT app development for Robots”.
On the first day 29th Jan 2022, Prof. Santosh Kamble presented an overview of hardware in the IoT , then sir introduced participants to the MIT app inventor. Students created an On-Off app to operate the HC05 Bluetooth module on the first day. On the second day, 30th Jan 2022 app developed for Home Automation and Robotic car control using Bluetooth. Prof. Anita Nalawade presented a brief overview of the analytics platform Thingspeak IoT. The app developed for agriculture is useful for monitoring the physical parameters through IoT. Total Number of students who attended this workshop is 105.

“Orientation Programme for Electronics Circuits, Sem-IV, ECS” January 2022

Orientation of “Electronic Circuits” , S.E.(Electronics & Computer Science Engineering ), SEM-IV -R2019 C- Scheme, AY-2021-22, was conducted on 25 January 2022. The event was organized by Department of Electronics & Computer Science Engineering, Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College, Chembur on virtual platform of Microsoft Teams. 8 faculty members from various colleges participated in this virtual orientation.Prof.Jayen Modi (FRCRCE), Dr.Deepak Bhoir (FRCRCE),Dr. Subha Subramaniam and Prof. Prashant Khedkar were the resource persons for the event.

” Parent Teacher Meeting” September 2021

Parent Teacher Meeting for the academic year 2021-22 was conducted on 18 September 2021 at 11am on virtual platform (Microsoft Teams). The Head of Department Dr. Subha Subramaniam addressed the parents with warm welcome note and read departmental progress report.
Prof. P.G. Khedkar,Dean Academics threw light on NAAC visit and ISO activities. Prof. Vidya Gogate discussed updation in resume and explained about the attention given to students by the teachers in online practicals. Prof. B. Mathew gave the idea about the department newsletter “Microtronix” which has all departmental and students activities. All Professionals body heads introduced the parents to the events conducted by the department,Internships, Placement and other co-curricular activities.
The subject and class toppers of SE,TE and BE were felicitated.

This two-week Internship was convened by the HOD, Dr. Subha Subramaniam and coordinated by Prof. Santosh Kamble and Prof. Madhura Pednekar. The internship was conducted completely ONLINE and free of cost. This Internship was a huge success for the SAKEC family as total 37 colleges has participated in this.

” Workshop on How To Deal With Social Pressure ” February 2021

Our Counselor, Ms. Hitakshi Vyas Joshi, who is trained in REBT therapy from Albert Ellis Institute, conducted a workshop with our Second Year Students on 16th February 2021. Adolescence is an age when an individual is influenced highest by their peers. This can have a positive as well as a negative impact on them. This workshop was designed to help the students identify their Social pressures, their impact, dealing with positive/negative pressure, and its types.

The department organized an online Faculty development program on “Workshop on Cadence EDA Tool” for staff. This two-day workshop was organized in association with Entuple technologies Pvt Ltd.. Mr. L V Kedarnath, Field Application Engineer was the key note speaker and conducted the hands-on for Cadence EDA Tool for Semi-custom and Full-custom design flow. This workshop was co-ordinated by Prof. Nibha Desai and Prof. Aparajita Bera and was conducted on 29th January 2021 & 30th January 2021.   

The workshop was successfully conducted under the guidance of our principal Dr. Bhavesh Patel and HOD,Dr. Subha Subramaniam (Convener). The workshop was conducted completely online and free of cost. This workshop is a huge success for the SAKEC family. The workshop started with the inaugural talk and welcome of the speaker by HOD, Dr. Subha Subramaniam, Dean of Academics, Prof. Prashant Khedkar addressed the participants and threw the light on the importance of workshop pertaining to the need of Industry.In this workshop Mr. L V Kedarnath introduced the Basic flow of Semi-custom and Full-custom design. He has demonstrated Modelling and Simulation of NAND Gate.

Further he has demonstrated the Layout of NAND Gate as Physical Design Implementation.This Cadence Hand-on on EDA Tool was an amazing experience of technology and innovation for the faculty members for Academics and Research Area.


This workshop was concluded by an interactive QnA Session and Fruitful discussion on the upcoming research possibilities in the domain of VLSI Design. Prof. Babychen K Mathew shared his views on the workshop.Prof. Nibha Desai proposed the Vote of Thanks and concluded the workshop.

“An Insight to Patent Drafting and Environmental Management” December 2020

This session was conducted on 7th December 2020 at 5pm in Microsoft teams virtual platform by Prof. Asha Durafe and Prof. Manisha Mane, faculties from Electronics Engineering
Department. Prof. Asha Durafe briefed the students of final year Electronics engineering about IPR and Patenting subject which is the Institute level elective for semester VIII. Prof. Manisha Mane discussed the syllabus contents of Environmental Management which is another Institute level elective for semester VIII.
This session helped the students to understand the contents of both the subjects so as to opt the electives in proper direction.

“Technical Talk on A GLANCE on CARBON NANOTUBES and CNTFETG by Dr. Subha Subramaniam” November 2020

A technical talk on “A GLANCE on CARBON NANOTUBES and CNTFET” was conducted on 5th November 2020 at 11.30am for final year BE (Electronics) students in Microsoft teams virtual
platform by Dr. Subha Subramaniam, Associate Professor, Electronics Engineering Department, SAKEC.
Silicon has to be replaced in Nanoelectronics industry and researchers are exploring new materials for IC fabrication. Carbon Nanotubes and CNTFET have depicted a huge light in this path and can be best suited options to fabricate ICs in upcoming semiconductor industry.
This technical talk is delivered to students in order to explore this upcoming area and motivate them towards NanoElectronics. All practical fabrication issues were also covered in this talk to develop keen interest of students in carbon nanotubes and CNTFET.

“Glimpse of Mini Project” November 2020

During this pandemic to identify the problems based on societal needs and to provide the solution, students of SE- Electronics have come up with COVID Fighter kit. In this students developed different projects addressing sanitization, social distancing and other norms to fight COVID-19.
Floor sanitizing robot, Automatic thermal screening door, Altering face mask, Medical caretaker bot, Passenger Counter, Contactless doorbell these projects are successfully implemented by the students.
To encourage and guide the students Glimpse of Mini-Project event was conducted by Electronics Department on 26th Nov2020 from 1:00-3:00pm.
The event was co-ordinated by Prof. Rameshwari Mane and Prof. Sarika Bukkawar under the guidance of Convenor, Dr.Subha Subramaniam.
Prof. Shubhangi Motewar, Prof. Madhura Pednekar and Prof. Santosh Kamble worked as review committee member and guided the students.

“Virtual Orientation Program on Electronic Devices and Circuits-I” July 2020

Orientation of “Electronic Devices and Circuits- I”, S.E.(Electronics), SEM-III CBCGS, C- Scheme, AY-2020-21, was conducted on 18th July 2020. The event was organized by Department of Electronics Engineering, Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College, Chembur on virtual platform of Microsoft Teams. 24 faculty members from various colleges participated in this virtual orientation. Dr. R. N. Awale Chairman, BOS, Mumbai University graced the orientation as Chief Guest. Dr. Sreeja Unnikrishnan, Member, BOS, Mumbai University graced the orientation as Guest of Honour. Dr. Bhavesh Patel, Principal, Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College and Dr. Vinit Kotak, Prof. Electronics Engineering Department also graced the event.

“Internship on IOT & Interfacing Boards” May 2020

SAKEC initiated and conducted fully online Internship on “IoT & Interfacing Boards” for total 303 students & staff members in this pandemic covid-19 lockdown situation. This two-week Internship was conducted by Prof. Santosh Kamble, Electronics department and coordinated by Prof. Priyanka Singh from 20th May 2020 to 31st May 2020. This Internship was hosted by Department of Electronics, SAKEC and Convenor, Dr.Subha Subramaniam. The internship was conducted completely online and free of cost. This Internship is a huge success for the SAKEC family.

In this Internship Prof. Santosh Kamble introduced Arduino and Node MCU boards. Arduino boards are the brain of thousands of projects, from everyday objects to complex scientific instruments. Arduino is an easy tool for fast prototyping.

Online simulation training on temperature measurement, ADC, serial communication, PWM with LED, LCD are successfully demonstrated by Prof. Santosh Kamble using Proteus software. Live IOT application of scanning QP code and monitoring temperature humidity at Prof. Santosh Kamble’s native place was an amazing experience of technology during this lockdown period.

This internship covered Raspberry Pi basics and interfacing designs also. PLC basics, programming of PLC, Applications of PLC were also demonstrated to students. Participants practiced interfacing designs via proteus software and appeared for quiz everyday. On the final day 50 marks test was conducted and E-certificate is awarded to students. Sharing practical knowledge of IOT and Interfacing boards was a huge challenge in this lock down period and was successfully implemented via this SAKEC internship May 2020.

PARENT TEACHER MEETING “MARCH 2020”

The Electronics Engineering Department conducted Parent Teacher Meeting on 7th March 2020. The activities of the department were briefed by Head of the Department Dr. Subha Subramaniam. Coordinators of different bodies within the department also shared details of their activities. Certificates were distributed to the subject toppers. Many parents attended the meeting with their wards, interacted with the staff and shared their concerns with the teachers.

“A one day Arduino workshop for Teachers” February 2020

Our institute Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College (SAKEC) Remote Centre of IIT Bombay hosted A one day Arduino workshop for Teachers which was conducted by the Teaching Learning Centre (ICT), supported by FOSSEE & Spoken Tutorials on Saturday ,8th February 2020 .Total 21 teachers participated in this workshop. Teachers from our institute and other institute participated in large numbers. All participants enjoyed the learning through videos and interaction with the course instructor and project coordinator through videoconference (A-view).There was an overwhelming response from all teachers and feedback received from them is encouraging to SAKEC remote centre team.Click here for more details…

“Faculty Development Programme on “Gamification” OCTOBER 2019

IEEE Bombay section in association with IEEE SAKEC and Department of Electronics Engineering and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering have organized a faculty development program on ” Gamification” by Dr. Fakhrul Hazman Yusoff, Faculty of Universiti Teknologi MARA, Malaysia on 16th October 2019 at 3 PM. Around 50 Faculties including all departments have participated in the above event. In his session speaker gave information about how we can use gamification for our daily work which will make people more interested and the results of such kind of experiments had been shown through video. Dr. Fakhrul also showed the Industrial revolution 5.0 from Japan which took care of human emotions along with technology. Shah and Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College, Remote Centre (RC No.-1566) of IIT Bombay hosted a one day eSIM workshop for Teachers which was organised by the Teaching Learning Centre of IIT Bombay, supported by FOSSEE and Spoken Tutorials on Saturday, 21 st September

“PCB Designing and Manufacturing Workshop”SEPTEMBER 2019

PCB Designing and Manufacturing Workshop was held on 13th, 14th and 18th September 2019 by Department of Electronics Engineering in collaboration with SAKEC ACM. This workshop was coordinated by Prof. Santosh Kamble and Prof. Priyanka Singh, Electronics department SAKEC. It was a three day workshop and covered various topics related to PCB designing and manufacturing. This workshop attended by 59 participants. Where we had a brief explanation on how PCBs are manufactured in the industries and what are the simple methods that can be followed to manufacture a PCB at home. Students were divided into groups of four and given a set of components, a PCB and wires to experience hands-on manufacturing of a PCB. This was followed by conclusion of the workshop with dignitaries addressing the students, distributing the certificates and a vote of thanks.Click here for more details…

Design -e-mania, An exploration into the world of Arduino and Raspberry Pi, Summer Internship Opportunity 2019 was held from 24/06/2019 to 05/07/2019 by Department of Electronics Engineering.The program was coordinated by Prof. Shubhangi Motewar, Prof. Madhura Pednekar and Prof. Pooja Polshetwar, ETRX Department, SAKEC.This internship program helped in developing the conceptual skills for project development. The students were trained with a strategic design approach. The hands-on sessions were presided by expert faculties in this field. On successful completion, students were given an opportunity to learn and implement projects.Students were awarded certificates on successful completion of given tasks. Department of Electronics Engineering also organised project competition on 20 July 2019. Students who completed summer internship on “Design -e-Mania” showcased their own projects. Three best projects were felicitated with awards.

Department of Electronics Engineering, Shah & Anchor Kutchhi Engineering College conducted an Orientation Programme for Instrumentation System Design (ISD)-ELX 701 on behalf of University of Mumbai on Thursday, 11th July 2019.

Dr.Deepak V.Bhoir, Member of Board of Studies in Electronics Engineering and Professor, Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering, was the resource person. Orientation programme was coordinated by Prof. Prashant G. Khedkar, Dean Academics and Associate Professor SAKEC and Prof. Jayen S. Modi, Assistant Professor, Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering, Mumbai.
They have given their valuable inputs in this orientation programme and discussed about syllabus, course outcomes, experiments and examinations. Total 20 participants attended the session.

The Seminar was conducted by SAKEC Alumni , Mr. Zubin Savla ,Tata Centre for Technology & Design, IIT Bombay and co-ordinated by Prof. Manjusha Kulkarni from Electronics Engineering Department.

Internship Opportunity on System and Network Administration
An Internship Program on System and Network Administration was held from 20.12.2018 to 29.12.2018 by Department of Electronics Engineering in association with E-Cell SAKEC.

The program was coordinated by Prof. Asha Durafe, Prof. Manisha Mane and Prof. Madhura Pednekar, ETRX Department, SAKEC.
This internship program aimed at giving Hands On training to the students. Students were given an opportunity to learn and do system administration and work on live project. On successful completion, the participants were awarded with an Internship certificate.Six students are shortlisted for the industry internships starting from 31st December 2018.

A faculty development programme on “Introduction to Photoshop” was held on 29.9.2018 and 6.10.2018 by Department of Electronics Engineering in association with IEEE-SAKEC.

Speaker of the event was Prof. Seema Kawale,Assistant Professor, EXTC Department, SAKEC.
Topics covered were Photoshop hands on training and making banners,certificates using Photoshop. The event was a great success with gained knowledge and training in Photoshop.

Matlab for Beginners
CSI SAKEC in collaboration with Electronics Engineering Department had organised a hands on workshop on MATLAB.

The workshop was conducted by Prof. Manisha Mane from Electronics department.
The workshop started with the basics of MATLAB and then the speaker highlighted the use of MATLAB and its applications. The workshop covered different mathematical functions and user defined functions. Participants enjoyed hands on experience on array operations and then the session ended with the importance of Simulink in the design of systems. So participants understood the importance of MATLAB in academics.

Electronics Engineering Department in collaboration with SAKEC ACM Student Chapter, organized “Relational Model Redesign” workshop that took place in 4th Floor Seminar Hall. It was a one-day event and covered various topics related to Database redesigning

The event was attended by 31 participants from third-year electronics department of SAKEC.
The students were greatly benefited by various normalization forms taught to them in a very interactive manner. The response and engagement during the event from the participants showed that they fully understood the topics taught to them.

Students of SE and TE Electronics have participated in this event. They made charts based on their syllabus.
The Judges for this event were Prof.. Swati Nadkarni(I/c HOD, IT ) and Prof. Rohan Borgalli (EXTC Department). These charts will be displayed in the respective laboratories.

Industrial Visit to BARC, Mumbai
Department of Electronics Engineering in association with CSI SAKEC Student Chapter organized an industrial visit to BARC on 21st March 2018

We visited the Remote Handling and Robotics Lab, Food Irradiation and Super Computing Technology lab. The research undertaken at each of the facility was explained by the concerned scientists. Interacting with eminent scientists of BARC was really a wonderful experience for faculty and students.

Industrial Visit at L&T Marine, Rabale
Department of Electronics Engineering in association with ISTE SAKEC organized an industrial visit at L&T Marine, Rabale on 7th Oct 2017.

Mr. Vijay Mahajan at L&T with his supporting staff enlightened the students about the knowledge of submarine panels assembled in their premises. The students visited the switchgear and control section along with the UPS section which is used in Indian submarines.

IEEE Bombay section in association of Electronics Engineering department , SAKEC and IEEE SAKEC organized Skill & Knowledge Enhancement Program(SKEP) in shah and Anchor Kutchhi Engineering college on 1st March 2017 from 2 pm to 5 pm. This SKEP had two session out of which first session “Pathway to research” was conducted by Dr. Sangeeta M. Joshi who is Technical Advisor in Vidyalankar Institute of Technology. Second session “Research methodology” was conducted by Dr. R.G. Karandikar who is working as a Professor in K.J. Somaiya college of Engineering. The external faculties from various colleges and faculties from all the departments of Shah and Anchor Kutchhi engineering college attended this SKEP event.
